Dr. Guy Faulkner brings physical activity and mental health expertise to International Physical Literacy Conference 2019

Sport for Life is excited to announce that Dr. Guy Faulkner, whose expertise focuses on the intersection between physical activity and mental health, will present at the International Physical Literacy Conference (IPLC) 2019. As one of the leading experts on physical activity interventions, Faulkner also has a wealth of knowledge from the realm of mental health to share with attendees of IPLC 2019, which takes place in Winnipeg, Manitoba from May 7 to 10.

As a professor in the School of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia, Faulkner is also a CIHR-PHAC Chair in Applied Public Health. He has been a member of the research work group for the 2012–2018 Active Healthy Kids Canada / ParticipACTION report cards on physical activity for children and youth. He also contributed to the development of the Canadian 24- Hour Movement Guidelines for the Early Years, and for Children and Youth.

Faulkner is also the founding editor of the Elsevier journal Mental Health and Physical Activity. His keynote address will focus on the relationship that physical literacy has with physical activity and mental health. As one of the most respected minds in this space, he’s sure to have compelling insights for those attending IPLC 2019.

“We’ve known for a while now that physical activity is good for our mental health, but there’s not too many out there who can speak on this topic with the same authority and knowledge as Dr. Guy Faulkner. We’re honoured that he’s one of our keynotes at IPLC 2019,” said Richard Way, Sport for Life CEO.
