Sport for Life Society announces Partnership with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities for 2018 Sport for Life Canadian Summit
The Sport for Life Society is pleased to announce Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities as a partner of the 2018 Sport for Life Canadian Summit. Jumpstart, a national charity dedicated to helping kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation, will be the official sponsor of the “Inclusive Play presented by Jumpstart” stream. The Inclusive Play stream will feature presentations quality programming for children with disabilities, training for coaches to be more inclusive, newcomer programming, and inclusion of girls and women.
“Sport for Life is thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Canadian Tire Jumpstart on the inclusive play stream of presentations at this year’s summit,” says Richard Way, CEO of Sport for Life. “This partnership will allow both organizations to collaborate on a common goal of providing greater access to sport and physical activity for Canadian children with disabilities.”
Jumpstart is also supporting a keynote address at this year’s summit, featuring NHL legend Lanny McDonald. “Jumpstart believes that all kids, regardless of their financial situation or physical abilities, should have the chance to play. We are proud to partner with the Sport for Life Canadian Summit, bringing together champions of quality sport and physical literacy development in an effort to create more opportunities where all kids can be included,” says Marco Di Buono, Associate Vice President of Operations and Programs at Jumpstart. Since 2005, Jumpstart has helped 1.6 million kids and counting get in the game.
The Sport for Life Canadian Summit brings together leaders who work to enhance the quality of sport and physical activity in Canada. The 2018 Summit will focus on collaboration within the sport system and across the recreation, education and health sectors in order to give participants the best possible chance to succeed. Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities is a national charity dedicated to helping kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation in order to provide inclusive play for kids of all abilities. With an extensive, national network of more than 1,900 Community Partners and nearly 300 local chapters, Jumpstart helps eligible families cover the costs of registration, transportation, and equipment, and provides funding to selected organizations for recreational infrastructure and programming.
