Keynote Dr. John Cairney aims to inspire at International Physical Literacy Conference 2019

One of the leading experts on exercise medicine, Dr. John Cairney, will deliver a keynote address titled “Research Powering Physical Literacy” during the International Physical Literacy Conference (IPLC) 2019. Cairney has a wealth of knowledge about the benefits of active living that he will share with delegates of IPLC 2019, which takes place in Winnipeg, Manitoba from May 7 to 10.

As the president of the North American Society for Pediatric Exercise Medicine (NASPEM), Cairney is uniquely well-positioned to offer physical literacy insights. He sits on the editorial boards for the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health as well as Psychology of Sport and Exercise, while serving as the editor-in-chief of Current Developmental Disorders Reports. He’s currently a professor of physical education and kinesiology at the University of Toronto.

During IPLC 2019, Cairney will speak about some of the information he’s shared over the course of producing 200 peer-reviewed publications and four books. In the past five years he’s held in excess of $5 million in research funding while doing extensive consulting for the Ministry of Child and Youth Services, as well as Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Education. He is considered one of the industry’s most influential thought leaders, and Sport for Life is thrilled to host him this year.

“Dr. John Cairney is on the leading edge of physical literacy research globally and every time I hear him speak I learn something new,” says Sport for Life CEO, Richard Way. “We couldn’t be more pleased that he’s sharing his knowledge at IPLC 2019.”

Regular registration closes April 12. Register for IPLC 2019 here. To see the program or list of active workshops, view the program page. For more information, visit the IPLC homepage – www.iplc.info/iplc_winnipeg/.
