The Future of Inclusion with the New to Canada Long-Term Participant Development Pathway
Sport for Life is excited to announce the launch of a new project aimed at supporting New to Canada Participants in their sport journey. The New to Canada Long-Term Participant Development Pathway (NLTD) resource, currently in the planning stages, will eventually guide and support newcomers as they navigate the Canadian sport system.
The NLTD project is just getting underway and promises to become an essential tool for promoting inclusivity and diversity within the Canadian sport system. Initially, the resource will be developed as a concept paper based on the guiding principles of Long-Term Development 3.0 and take into consideration the Indigenous ways of sport as articulated in the Indigenous Long-Term Player Development (ILTPD). Sport for Life plans to collaborate with National Sport Organizations and Newcomer organizations to gather feedback and insights, ensuring the final product effectively meets the needs of the communities it aims to serve.
Once completed, the NLTD resource will be available in English and French and published online for easy access. This initiative is part of Sport for Life’s ongoing commitment to creating a more welcoming and inclusive sports environment for everyone, regardless of their background or experience level.
With the launch of the NLTD resource and other ongoing projects, Sport for Life continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive sports system in Canada. By working collaboratively with partners across the country, the organization is helping to ensure that everyone can participate in and benefit from sports, regardless of their background or experience level.
