Greg Henhawk Receives IG Wealth Management National NCCP Coach Developer Award

Canada’s most deserving and influential coaches and sport leaders were honoured on November 9 at the 2018 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership Awards Gala. Among them was Greg Henhawk, who received the IG Wealth Management National NCCP Coach Developer Award. This award recognizes an outstanding individual who has gone above and beyond to inspire and develop NCCP coaches in their community. Please visit Coaching Association of Canada’s YouTube channel for vignettes of their inspiring stories.

Greg is Mohawk of the Bear Clan from Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation in Southern Ontario. He has spent 31 years in education and has been coaching various sports for 41 years. Sport for Life Society has had the pleasure of working with Greg in the development of two national resources, including the Aboriginal Long-Term Participant Development Pathway and Aboriginal Communities: Active for Life. Greg is a Master Learning Facilitator for both workshops along with the Aboriginal Coaching Modules (ACM).

The Aboriginal Sport Circle and Sport for Life Society invite you to attend the Aboriginal Long-Term Participant Development Pathway: Supporting Indigenous Participation workshop on January 21, 2019 to see Greg in facilitation action. This interactive and engaging workshop is designed to help sport and physical activity leaders and organizations across Canada enhance their understanding about how to support Indigenous participants and athletes in their programming. The full day workshop is prior to the 2019 Sport for Life Canadian Summit hosted at the Hilton Lac-Leamy hotel in Gatineau, QC. More information and registration is available here.

Sport for Life would like to congratulate Greg on his well-deserved award, as we continue to be guided and inspired by his passion for sport, knowledge, and dedication to improving the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples across Canada.
