On July 21, 2026, Kabir Hosein, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Sport for Life, will participate as a case study presenter in the TAFISA Mission 2030 webinar, No One on the Sidelines: Intersectionality and the Missing Voices in Sport for All.

The webinar is part of TAFISA’s Mission 2030 Webinar Series, which aims to promote inclusion in Sport for All. It will explore what intersectionality means in practice — from community outreach to program design.

People may experience barriers related to multiple, overlapping realities, including disability, migration status, gender, race, age, and socioeconomic background. Drawing on case studies and practitioner experience, the webinar will examine how organizations can move from awareness of intersectionality to genuine structural change by creating sport environments that are actively designed around participants’ diverse experiences and needs.

Sharing the NLTD Approach

During the Case Study session, Hosein will present Sport for Life’s New-to-Canada Long-Term Development in Sport and Physical Activity Pathway (NLTD).

NLTD maps out a pathway for sport and physical activity involvement for new-to-Canada participants through all stages of life. It is designed for two primary audiences: organizations that support new-to-Canada participants during the settlement process, and the organizations and facilities that provide quality sport and physical activity opportunities once participants are in Canada.

NLTD helps organizations better understand the experiences and barriers that can shape participation while supporting the creation of safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments. It also addresses awareness and first involvement, physical literacy development, quality sport and physical activity, and long-term participation.

Hosein’s presentation will focus on NLTD, which supports case studies such as Aqua Welcome and CO-PLAY.

Aqua Welcome is a practical guide for organizations supporting new-to-Canada participants in Greater Victoria, B.C. It is designed to help create welcoming, safe, and inclusive aquatic programs where participants can build the confidence, skills, and motivation to be active in the water.
