Terrell Evans of The Grind Basketball chats with elder Alex Nelson during this year’s Summit in Victoria.

Ten communities, four keynotes, and hundreds of delegates.

The 2022 Sport for Life Canadian Summit was held on May 11 and 12, and representatives from all sectors came together to reflect, reconnect and reimagine the future of the quality sport and physical literacy ecosystem. They heard from speakers Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, Aisha Saintiche, Glenn and Nick Hoag, and Dorota Blumczyńska.

“The 2022 Sport for Life Canadian Summit can be captured in two words: opening up. Whether that be opening up to reflecting on our histories or opening up to new connections or opening up to envisioning new futures,” said Billie Tes, Sport for Life’s Manger of People and Culture.

“Seeing our partners in quality sport and physical literacy in person was so encouraging and has left us wanting more.”

The event was simultaneously held in Victoria, New Westminster, Prince George, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Chatham-Kent, Mississauga, Ottawa, and Lanaudière. The event was held at a later date for the Iqualit community.

Here are some images of the impactful moments we experienced over the course of those two days. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back for next year’s Summit.
